To Pounce or Not to Pounce?

You are single and you see someone that ideally fits into the ‘your type’ scope! What do we do? Speaking from personal experience I give a subtle smile or I find something witty to say. However, in the back of my mind; the back up music starts in, “Is he single?”- “Is he actually available?”- “Is he straight?” And let’s say we know that the other person might be interested due to constant eye contact; am I supposed to approach? Yikes! This can be such a headache. I can see why most people try to pick people up at a bar because your judgement is definitely impaired.

I think there are a lot more single and available individuals then we tend to believe. I just had the idea that approaching someone is like a sales pitch. You are always selling something – yourself! You have to pitch yourself to several individuals in order to close a deal. In some cases you definitely have to pounce on a sale. By pounce; I mean take all subtleties to a whole other level. Sometimes I write my dating blogs inside of Starbucks and I ask cute guys questions for research. The questions I asked are relative, but I want to open up some form of dialogue. The few times I have done it- the conversation didn’t go further than the research. tongue tied

I feel like if I make the effort to say something witty or open a dialogue then the other individual needs to meet me halfway. I’m not really into pick up lines; I feel like i’ll get tongue tied (hopefully literally; just kidding- perhaps).

I know that there are so many missed opportunities that I am constantly kicking myself. I remember two very attractive guys came into Starbucks in one day and I was making major eye contact with them. And I definitely have my shy moments. Honestly, it’s the fear of probabilities. Plus now-a-days married people do not wear wedding rings; so that idea also lingers in the back of my mind.

I have actually decided to wear a ring on my wedding ring finger and stop looking for a while. I mean I haven’t been on a hunt, but if I do see an attractive guy I do bat my eyelashes- ha ha! I have also wrote a poem relative to this subject; entitled, “Tongue Tied”

Tongue Tied

He threw together a sentence he thought made sense

But in his eyes his true thoughts came alive

His eyes glazed over my body like baby oil

Shinny and bright, he couldn’t hide his delight

His mouth began to salivate

Did he contemplate what it might be like to taste?

He begun to choke and stutter on his words

No full comprehensive sentence to be heard

smilelipsI blushed and smiled

This only drove him more wild

He moved in closer to pick up on my scent

His knees buckled and then bent

It took him a moment to regain consciousness and see

I extended my hand to greet him, “Hi, I’m Tiffany.”

He replied, “I’m Mr. Whatever you want and need me to be!”
